April Manequim Preview
Here is a the quick preview for the next Manequim issue (April for me):
Shoes!
Also something about “return of the sets” (a volta dos conjuntos) which if you look at the picture they have a matching blouse and skirt (looks like a dress at first) but then they accessorise them separately…interested to see how many other patterns are in that section.

Shoes!!! I go mad about shoes
I like the wide trousers too. Do you have Manaquim subscription? Do you think it’s worth it?
They always have a best shoes to swoon over!
I do have a subscription, I think I am on my third year. I haven’t sewn much out of them lately because life has been busy but I think it is definitely worth it. I used to buy a lot of fashion magazines but Manequim is the same as a fashion magazine but with patterns and much cheaper per issue than the fashion magazines. The only thing that could be a problem is that only some patterns come multi-sized and most of them are only in one size so if you want to get the most out of an issue you may have to do a little grading. I am working on a bit of that, grading down to my size, but most patterns are either in my size (Manequim 44 which is kind of a Burda 42) or one up/one down so it’s not so bad. You can see how I subscribe to my magazines here: http://thecuriouskiwi.wordpress.com/magazines/
feel free to ask me any more questions xx
Oh gosh good to know that Burda and Manequim sizes differ! I got one Manequim, February I think. I found a review of it on another blog and fell in love with one of the patterns. I bought that one loose issue on eBay, only for that pattern – it wasn’t very cost effective… But found other patterns that I liked in 44 that I was planning to make – didn’t even think the size could be a different 44 than Burda’s!
That’s right
It’s usually only about one size up and all the measurements are just the tiny bit different from Burda. I have a translated size chart here that might help you: http://thecuriouskiwi.files.wordpress.com/2010/05/manequim-size-chart-translated.jpg and this tutorial might help for enlarging a pattern, it’s worked for me in the past: http://www.threadsmagazine.com/item/4424/quick-reference-for-cut-and-spread-pattern-grading
Do you reckon we could sew some of them there shoes?!
Glad to see you had some energy to sew a bit. Oh and power tidy.
Wouldn’t that be a great?! Sew me some shoes
Ah yes, sewing made me feel much better, thank you
