Last month on The Monthly Stitch we put the March challenge up for community vote:
The winner? Pattern Stashbusting! Use a pattern that’s been in your stash that you’ve never used.
It won easily…far too easily.
So we called in the help of Miss Bossy Patterns:
Miss Bossy Patterns challenged the Collective to select unused patterns from their stash (3 or more) and ask the community and their readers to vote, the winning pattern is to be sewn up for March.
I’ve been looking through my short list (which isn’t very short) and digging through my filing cabinet and finally made a selection. Here are my options:
First up is Vogue 1317, a Ralph Rucci pattern:
This dress has been on my short list for a while but I wasn’t sure about fabric – and then I discovered double knit (one of the suggested fabrics) and shortly after found some in the perfect fuchsia!
Second is the the super cute Reglisse by Deer & Doe:
I’ve liked this dress for a while, it looks comfy and sweet and I think you could have a lot of fun with fabric selection and contrast optons. I have plenty in my stash that this pattern could work with, here is just a small selection:
Last is Lekala 5928 and it’s not a dress, ah ha! I admit I am on a bit of a dress binge right now but after seeing Kat’s cute Dita skirt, I want a skirt that makes me want to shake my tail feather too! 😉
This is also a pattern brand which is new to me. This particular pattern comes off of a CD I bought a while ago. You enter your measurement and it produces the pattern to fit you…theoretically…so I think, since this is the first pattern from them I have ever made and also my first time printing from this CD (that is not entirely in English!), I will need make a quick muslin first to check. I also have plenty of fabric in my stash that could be made into this pattern, another small selection:
Help me decide what to make for the March TMS Challenge by voting in my poll, feel free to leave me a comment as well 🙂 :
Go! 😀
Done! I’ve gone for the Vogue dress because it’s cool!
I have the first one in my stash too! Would love to see it made it, the pattern pieces intimidate me so far!
UGH the one I wanted is in 3rd place! Honestly though you picked some great patterns and fabric so they will all be awesome.
I went for Deer and Doe which is lagging behind at the moment, but any of those patterns would be fabulous. How about all of them?
WIll you be making all of them eventually? I hope so. Ps I love your blog ! You have already received one but I nominated you for a Liebster award.
I love them all they will all eventually end up in my wardrobe 🙂 Actually seeing the votes come in has made me more excited to sew them. Thank you for the award xx
The Lekala is so cool, but I voted for Ralph. If it wins, I expect a photo shoot including an interpretation of that incredibly awkward pose
You’re on! 😀
Definitely the Ralph Rucci vogue in that gorgeous fuchsia! What a great pattern, never saw it before! (ps, my voting poll is up and running here: http://gjeometry.com/2014/02/13/help-me-obi-wan-kenobi/ Have a go at voting! I can’t wait to see who wins for all of us! Too exciting, I keep checking, ummmm, far too often at the stats.
I vote for the skirt, that is such an exciting sewing challenge. Just imagine if it fits you perfectly and what that would mean for making more things from them? Wow. I also would like to see more people test that system for sucess.
I’ll tell you a secret, even if the skirt doesn’t win I still really REALLY want to make it (because it’s awesome but also to test Lekala accuracy – I am imagining how great it could be if it does fit perfectly) so expect to see it soon 😉
Love Ralph Rucci. If it wins, progress photos please.
Absolutely! 😀
I REALLY wanted to vote for the Vogue, but kept coming back to the Lekala skirt. I can totally see you in it.
Ramona
I totally want to see you shake a tail feather.
All great looking patterns, but I’ve gone with the skirt as the shape is so interesting and I’d love to know how you get on with printing from the CD, and whether it produces a perfect fit straight off!
I’m interested too – don’t worry, if the skirt doesn’t win it will be high up the list 🙂
I was very much in doubt between the skirt and the Vogue dress, but I’m a dress addict, so Vogue won out… And FUCHSIA!!!! Yes!
gotta bet the skirt, I loved Kat’s Dita one too, there’s just something so enchanting about the tail 🙂
I love the Deer and Doe dress, but I also found the other two interesting. I would love to see how the skirt fits after using your measurements. Great choices.
I voted for the skirt too, looks like a really interesting (or possibly challenging…) pattern 🙂
I really want to know more about that skirt. I can also see it as being versatile in wardrobe.
Done. Was going to go Ralph Rucci but that Lekala skirt is too cool!
Ralph Ruch has been in my stash too. I love the design and topstiching. The color of your double knit is perfect.
