This is my entry for the Wenlan Chia “Show Us You A-Line” competition. I wanted to do a fun take on this skirt and I had had this fabric for a while and knew it wanted to be a skirt so I figured this was a great opportunity to use it. Then I had the idea of doing some hand embellishment afterwards. This pattern also re-taught me a valuable lesson. I have gotten a bit blasé with checking the test square when printing, since it always prints to scale but this file did something strange to my computer and printed it at only 7.5cms and I never noticed. Consequently I had huge fitting issues but I solved them with a little patience and lots of ingenuity! I’m glad I persevered, I love the proportions of my skirt, this pattern in general is extremely flattering and so comfortable to wear. I think I will make several more, some neutral and some in crazy prints and maybe a formal skirt with some lace detail.
