Archived Project: Yellow Bridesmaid

Mar 6, 2010

I don’t usually sew for others but when my friend Adelene asked me to make her bridesmaids dress I couldn’t refuse.

The bride let all the bridesmaids choose their own dresses as long as they were yellow which I thought was quite nice, meaning all the girls can end up with a dress they love and feel good in. I took Adelene shopping for the pattern and material and this is what we ended up with, she was very happy and so was I but I couldn’t believe how nervous I was making it, I had shaky hands and everything!

But in the end everything turned out fine and all the girls looked amazing. The only modifications I made were to lower the neckline a little at Adelene’s request and I also made a kind of sash/belt with bow that we saw on another pattern she liked.

Material Notes

Heavy yellow silk, invisible zipper & thread
